Jesus Song

(Scott Kirby)
this song is for everyone who said I should sing about jesus
this song is for everyone who said I should sing about demons

as you walk around with your pride in your pocket
closed off from the world like a picture in a locket
I think it is extreme
so many people wanna call themselves christian
but I contest do you really what know what that means

an open mind an open heart
lovin' your neighbor as yourself that's a pretty good start
cause saying one thing and doing another
that only makes you a first class hypocrite my brother
sometimes words are hard to digest
but a spood full of sugar will help coat the rest
of their bitter tasting lies
and at the end of the day another war torn nation
get our hands on oil while people die of starvation
kinda makes me ill
mommy I want this and Daddy I want that
we know that curiosity killed the cat
but seriously pharoh
let my people go

and in the book of john
chapter thirteen start with verse thirty one
jesus said " Love Everyone".."you gotta Love, Love Everyone"

So I'll believe in your gospels and I'll believe in your creeds
because I believe that Jesus Christ Ascended for you and me
so whether or not he ran off to france
and switched from robes to wearing pants
He brought the truth and the truth will set you free
an ancient mayan calendar
when does that run out
with two world wars behind us while a third one brews about
the only power that we have is the freedom to speak our minds
spend enough time searching for that needle
in yaweh you will find it

so all my brothers and sisters everywhere across the land
I am not a polytheist so please give me your hand
it's time to take a stand
cause there is just one god one great creator
and he's the greatest poet the best painter
just look around at this beautiful world
and see what he has to show for it
cause when you can look up at a clear blue sky
and see an eagle up there just flying high
or the stars on a clear dark night and the reflection of the moonlight something greater's going on
