Scott Kirby: Music
Blues Track 22
i actually don't have too much recollection of how this song came about... I have a very old songbook with re-vival hyms I was paging through and playing the gospel numbers and what not... i must have been taken up with the spirits or something because this was right in the middle of all of that... plus i wanted something that had some rythm and soul feel...
She said I don't know I don't know Why sometimes i'm lonely sometimes I'm blue sometimes i'm scared through and through why you got this poison pushin inside of my veins give me one reason why everythings still the same change change
do you have the time at your beckon call taking your orders breaking your fall do you write your story do you follow a script i'd like to ask the screenwriter for a couple of tips am I gonna be up or down down down down down
well how did i get here who when and why it's just a matter of genetics to have life you must die pride pride you have to kill your foolish foolish pride are you gonna be up or down are you gonna be up or down
you know lightning is striking the thunder it calls it's the perfect night for a storm in the eye of it all there's a calm feelin' and it's growing inside of me ashes to ashes may you rest in peace am I gonna be up or down down down down
if blue is the number and black is the name float on down to mississippi down to new orleans don't you wanna go don't you want to go i see that look upon your face trading your aces for a couple of spades when you don't know if you gonna be up or down
